The Gravity of Om

I will always be thankful for Om’s acerbic wit and unfailing kindness.

Om was an arbiter of taste. He had an unerring instinct for what mattered — whether in technology, fashion, photography, or conversation.

He was a teddy bear to those fortunate enough to know him.

Om was a prolific writer of remarkable discipline and clarity. His work is essential reading. He brought the same care to images that he brought to words. He was a thoughtful truth teller whose work only deepened over time. I always hear Om’s voice when I read his words.  I especially love his recent writing. Endlessly curious, he found beauty in the minimal.

Om was so funny. He had the best smile.

He was a comforter and a challenger.

Om created gravity. He was someone you wanted to be around.

He will be profoundly missed

Om was always up for an adventure. On this day, we stopped by the newly opened Apple Store in Union Square, then drove across the bridge to wait in a multi-hour line at the opening of the first Bay Area Dunkin’ Donuts in 40 years so our Boston-born friend could get a Coolata. It was over 95 degrees in Walnut Creek that day. We laughed the entire time.
